1-week Yoga Challenge: Day 2

“And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning–the second day.” – Genesis 1:6-8

Today’s 20 minutes were emphasized on boundaries and air. Caroline brings attention to God’s words of separation and creating boundaries. She compares this to boundaries we have in our own lives. She didn’t mention this, but I think of boundaries in relationships. I think two people need to make physical boundaries within their relationship. An example of this would be setting aside time to spend with each other that doesn’t involve laying on a couch. Specific time boundaries are also important. Is there a certain day of the week that you need time for yourself or family? How about times throughout the night that are off-limits?

Relating boundaries to separation, how do you separate the good and bad in your life? Just as God separated the dark and light or the sky and sea, after a length of time, we start to separate the positives and negatives in our lives. For me, this can mean separating myself from friends who are constantly negative. Caroline asks her viewers what’s weighing them down in life. Where is the air thick and unbreathable in life? It might not be so clear yet; that’s why we are taking this morning to reflect and stretch in a meditative way.

I especially like when Caroline speaks about releasing this weight, physically and mentally. Surrender to God and allow Him to uplift you by giving you peace and humbleness through these thickened areas of life.

Aside from the mental challenges of today, I did end up going to the gym yesterday afternoon! I did 15 minutes of the elliptical and lifted/toned for about 30 minutes. I haven’t weight-lifted in so long…I’m sore! Today’s yoga moves were definitely stretching my tight muscles. As for no running? I can tell I’m losing my mind very slowly. It’s hard to sit still and pay attention in the mornings and the rest of my day is a bit sluggish.

Excited for the rest of this week! How are you feeling?
