24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds:the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.” -Genesis 1:24-31
Today’s practice wasn’t yoga at all–it was simply meditation! Meditating has a negative connotation in my mind. I like to be active and energetic, the complete opposite of meditation. Today (and day 7) definitely challenged me to be calm and quiet.
Caroline didn’t speak much in this video, she left a lot of silence for God to speak. This is my time to not only silence my audible voice, but also my random voices in my head. You know, those thoughts that start creating your never-ending to-do list. It is now time to shift these thoughts to God’s thoughts. What is He saying to me right now? I like to ask God to show me my heart; check my heart, Lord. I continuously pray for my heart to be like God’s, for my eyes to see what He sees. I mean this in the sense that I want my eyes to be opened and my heart to ache for the poor or for the broken, just like His.
Use this time for God to show you where you need to be refined. Let Him in. Ask God how He can start aligning your life with His will, the way it’s intended to be!
One part I really liked was when Caroline said to see how we are created in God’s likeness. Examine your characteristics and understand how they match God. This part was tricky for me. This might sound crazy, but sometimes I don’t even know who I am. If someone told me to describe myself in 5 words in 10 seconds, I’m not sure I could do it! Maybe you can relate. Challenge yourself: write out words that describe you, jot down your dreams, confess areas in your life you have failed and examine why. All of these will help you understand yourself. Ask God to show you how you are His. Open your heart to the Holy Spirit to truly be filled with His words.
Remember: you do not belong to this world, but you belong to God.
